Privacy Policy
Last updated: 30 August 2026
Scanly stores your scans on your device. They are not written to your photo library and they are not uploaded to our servers. This page explains what the app does handle, and why.
1. Documents you scan
Scans are saved in Scanly's own storage area on your device. They are not added to your camera roll or photo library, which means they are not picked up by your phone's automatic cloud backup and are not readable by other apps.
We never receive, transmit or store the contents of your documents. A scan leaves the app only when you choose to share or export it, and then it goes wherever you send it.
2. Your PIN
If you enable the PIN, the four-digit code is stored on your device and verified on your device. It is never sent anywhere and we have no way to recover it. If you forget it, you will need to reset it in the app.
3. Permissions we request
- Camera — to capture the document you are scanning. Used only while a scan is in progress.
- Photo library — requested only if you choose to import an existing image. Scanly reads the image you pick and writes nothing back.
4. Advertising
Scanly is free and supported by ads served through Google AdMob. To deliver and measure those ads, Google may collect device identifiers, approximate location and usage data. This processing is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
You can limit personalised advertising in your device settings: on Android under Settings → Privacy → Ads, and on iOS under Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
We do not sell your personal information.
5. Analytics and diagnostics
We collect anonymised information about crashes and general app usage so we can fix problems and decide what to improve. This data is not linked to your identity and never includes the contents of your documents.
6. Accounts
Scanly does not require an account. There is no registration, no email address to provide, and no password to store, so there is no account data for us to hold.
7. Children
Scanly is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
8. Your rights
Because your documents stay on your device, you control them directly: deleting a document in the app removes it, and uninstalling Scanly removes all of them. For questions about the data described in sections 4 and 5, including access or deletion requests, write to us at the address below.
9. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes we will post the updated version on this page with a new date. Continuing to use Scanly after a change means you accept the revised policy.
10. Contact
Email info@tepuytech.com and we will get back to you.
